Your petitioners respectfully peti tion and ask that said highway be im proved by grading, draining and pav ing the same with gravel as follows, to-wit: That said road be left at its present width, namely thirty (30) feet I -wide; that the grade thereon be con-1 structed to a width of twenty-two (22) I faet; that there be placed thereon on the north mile thereof six (6) yards and on the south mile thereof five (5) yards of good, clean, sharp gravel to the lineal rod thereof; that said gravel be Said between boards twelve (12) feet apart, said boards to be six (6) inches high and the gravel so placed as to form a uniform curve from the top edges of said boards to the center' of said road; that there be constructed the necessary drains, side drains, sewers, bridges and cul verts, with sewer tile therein, all as to make said highway a complete gravel road. And your petitioners further show that said public highway' as above described is less than three miles in, length, being about two (2) miles long; that the same connects at the north end and beginning thereof with an Improved, free gravel road known as and called the Frankton and Duck Creek Pike, and that said public high way connects at the south end and ter mination thereof with a boundary of said Pipe Creek township; and that said public highway is not now an im-1 proved, free gravel road. Two Were Filed With County Board Yesterday. Two more petitions for improvement of roads under the three-mile road law were filed yesterday with the county board.

One is headed by Ernest Nuding for the Nuding road in Pipe Creek township. A petition from Jackson township was headed by Llewellyn Shell and more than fifty others. JUDGE RYAN Was Successfully Operated Upon at Hospital Yesterday. Judge H. C.

Ryan was operated on yesterday morning at Rochester, for goitre and word received later In the day stated that he was recuperating nicely. It is expected that he will soon be well on the way to recovery. Practically Raised. The subscription list which has been circulated among the merchants during the past few days, in the effort to raise a sum of five thousand dollars for the purpose of securing anextra addition of two thousand dollars to the" weekly pay roll of the MacBeth-Evans plant, will likely be finished this evening. Practically the entire sum has been raised, and the success of the movement is now assured.

We recommend that the same be improved with paving brick or macadam, gravel, or other suitable material, making a road bed not less than twenty feet wide, and that the same be drained by.
