Elwood Lad Third In 'Ag' Event Robert McGraw and Walter McDaniel, both at Elwood, placed third and tenth respectively in the district high school vocational agriculture corn husking contest conducted on the Leyton Johnson farm, near Aroma yesterday. Twenty-three students from 12 high schools in Madison, Hamilton and Tipton counties competed and Walter Mauck, of Anderson, was declared th( winner. Mauck will represent this dis-rict at the state husking contest which will be held in Flora or October 13 at the Hadley A. Mum- mert farm. In the district meet vocational agriculture instructor Palmer Davis acted as a referee.

According to Mr. Davis. McGraw made a fine showing considering he is a sophomore in vocational agriculture work. Kiwanians Meet Last Evening Elwood's Kiwanis club met last evening at the First Presbvter ian Chureli and were entertained with a program prepared by the American Railway Express company. McMinn Dental LaDoralory, the first door west of Mercy hospital. Mr. Osterheld is a graduate of the Indiana University school of dentistry, finishing with the class of 1915. He practiced dental surgery in Broadripple in Indianapolis for nearly 18 years just pnoi to his locating here. During his time in Broadripple, he was very active in civic affairs and served for several yt-ars as secretary of the Chamber ol Commerce.

He is married and has one daughter who is a senior in the Broadripple High School. As soon as his daughter finishes school at tiie close of the school year, Mr. Osterheld stated, he will move his family to Eiwoou Junior High PTA Meets Tuesday Junior High School's Parent Teacher Association will meei Tuesday afternoon at 2:1 o'clock in the Kindsrgarten Room of the school. Part of the meeting will will be held in the afternoon and part of it will be held at 7:30 in the evening, it was announced by Mrs- Paul Walker, president. The association has decided to hold the regular meeting on the second Tuesday of each month.

Senior PTA Will Meet Tuesday Senior High School's Parent Teacher Association will meet next Tuesday evening at 7:30 o' clock in the high school building. The speaker of the evening Will be Superintendent W. Smith and the devotions will be by the Rev. S. L.

Yoder. pastor of the Fir3t Methodist Church-Jack Marshall's orchestra will furnish the music for the occasion and refreshments will be served. Everyone is urged to be present as there is a great deal of business to be transacted. Fall Activities To Feature Demo Dance Mrs. F.

Parker, general chairman of the social committee ot the Madison county Women's Democrat club, stated today that the fall activities of the 1939-40 year will feature the annual dance of the club to be hed at the Grandview clubhouse October 21. Don Mains' orchestra will furnish the music. Mrs. Parker stated that ap proximately 500 were expected to attend the dance and that the committees would be named later.
